FAREWELL TEA FOR REGISTRAR, MRS KOH JUAT JONG
Mrs Koh Juat Jong relinquished her position as Registrar, Supreme Court on 11 April 2008, after four years at the helm, when she was appointed Solicitor-General. A farewell tea was held in her honour on 10 April at the Supreme Court Viewing Gallery. In her informal farewell address, Mrs Koh expressed her deep appreciation to the staff for their generous support and contribution towards making her tenure at the Supreme Court a rewarding and memorable experience.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to Mrs Koh, which included a commemorative trophy, a photo montage and a framed work of calligraphy. We wish Mrs Koh every success in her new appointment.
STAFF WELFARE ACTIVITIES
A wide spectrum of welfare activities was organised for staff throughout the year. Responding to the results of an internal survey on staff’s preferences and interests, yoga classes, personal grooming & wellbeing workshops, lunchtime screenings of motivational videos and informative educational talks on work-life integration and anti-corruption were organised to promote wellbeing and personal development.
To emphasise the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle, two “Walk-The-Talk” brisk walk sessions were organised along the Singapore River and the Henderson Waves. The Judiciary Games Day, as well as inter-departmental tournaments in foosball and basketball, gave staff good reason to keep fit while interacting with colleagues. Healthy fruits and snacks were distributed quarterly to encourage staff to adopt healthy eating habits and an annual on-site health screening was organised to keep staff apprised of their health status.
Family-friendly programmes were organised to promote better work-life balance. These included Bring Your Kids To Work Day, Eat With Your Family Day, family visits to a chocolate factory and Terminal 3 of Changi International Airport, and work-life integration workshops.
Other highlights included the annual Dinner & Dance, Amazing Race and Movie Night organised by the Judiciary Recreation Club. Major festivals were also celebrated with the sale of home-made festive goodies by staff during Chinese New Year, “DeepaRaya” Celebrations and a year-end bash featuring a fashion show with original creations by staff.
