Practising Certificates E-Filing Service

All lawyers intending to practice in Singapore must have a valid practicing certificate (PC). All lawyers must renew their PCs by 31 March of each year. Lawyers can apply for their practicing certificates through the PC E-Filing Service at the Supreme Court.

The PC E-Filing System allows lawyers to conveniently apply for PCs through the internet without having to fill in paper forms.  It also allows lawyers to provide notification of change in particulars to the Registrar and the Law Society, as required under the section 27(3) Legal Profession Act.

Lawyers who have access to the internet are able to e-file their applications and learn the status of their applications within minutes.  There are also terminals set up at the Legal Registry, Supreme Court, for lawyers to e-file their applications.

The fee for E-Filing of PCs is S$85.00.

The procedure relating to the application for and renewal of PCs is set out in Part XVII of The Supreme Court Practice Directions (2007 Ed).  Attention is drawn, in particular, to the amendments effected by Practice Direction No. 4 of 2008.
FAQs on the PC E-Filing System can be found here.
